Not to mention Smokescreen is retarded. It's like Akali's cloak but trades centering around yourself and free defense stats for larger but centered around a small area. It slows, it it nocturne ults, it is the ultimate engagement, it is the ultimate ganking tool, it is the ultimate escape.
I unlocked Jax but I apparently suck at using him.

Although I've never played the guy, it seems like it's all about Empower > Leap > CS > repeat. Ult when you need to really whittle the HP down/Ganking a caster.

This is why we hate Jax
His attacks are strong, but his health isn't that great. I dunno if recommended items are the way to go for him but that's all I understand about the items.
I would figure that armor/resistance would be the way to build for him since the longer he's alive the more damage he's gonna do, but this game seems to like being more complicated than it needs to be.
Like, if someone just told me what to build for him that'd be great. I can mash qwe and r at my own discretion.
atma, rageblade, gunblade, dodge boots, trinity, mr/ad/ap item.

For Jax? It seems better to build him gunblade, ginsuus, then all ap items. Jax also gets tanky late game.
gunblade and rageblade are core, then build defenses. you're going to start getting focused down if you're snowballing out of control or if you're farming like you should be and have gunblade and rageblade in the right amount of time.
Graves is going to be nerfed pretty hard I'm willing to bet.
atma on jax is ridiculously good actually because of how it interacts with his passive, most times in tournaments in fact you'll see he will get most of his damage from ad items early-mid, and ap later on. trinity because dat sheen and also movespeed and slow. pretty much all the stats it gives are ridiculous on jax.
Well I unlocked Jax because I've heard from p much everyone that he's good for dealing massive damage. I used points to unlock him so I might as well learn to use him, at least until I can unlock Maokai who I know I can use not-shittilly.
I'll try building what you've all said and see if I do bad or not.
EDIT: oh also, after I unlock Maokai, are there any 450 ip champs that are easy to use? I would like to have a few fallbacks. I tried ashe for the first time against bots but sucked pretty hard until I realized she's all about speed and can't take hits.

Fapster Yi's pretty good, you can do great damage with him endgame. Kayle is good too, if you enjoy giving head to your opponents before they rape you.

Don't forget Trace, Eschatos, Negate, Singed, Warwick, and Akali.
Honesty, I kind of started out the same way, just a bit more Akali and less Jax
