I had about 9500 certs saved up on my alt, dumped them all into prowler. After playing for like 2 ish hours on Connery, either players there are absolutely terrible in comparison to Mattherson or the TR are bum-fuck retarded when it comes to using the prowler.
Parked on a hill, anchored and blew through my ammo supply like 3 times over. It wasn't even fair...
The map is not exhaustive, I did find one that wasn't on there.  Lot of people in planes looking, but I don't think you can see them well like that.  I just crawled around in my Rival 3 Mag and found my sixth one as a gold one, it gives you 5k base xp and a Gold Snowman Hood Ornament  8)
Yeah what I have found is that they don't render until foliage and rocks render. Usually why people on land vehicles see em. When I was flying around I would just slow down near each spot wait couple seconds look around and then move on. I think I am on 6/10.
10 normals get you a "Snowblower" title, and as you found out the gold get your nice xp and a golden hood ornament.

Yeah they nerfed that in a hotfix today.
Looks like tank mines got hit with the nerf bat too. They don't explode from splash damage anymore, you have to shoot each one individually to destroy them.

Applies to all mines - not sure if its a nerf or a bug...
Found my first golden snowman 20 seconds after starting my hunt.
Found a second one a while later and let whoever else in squad get there first take it.
