From Reddit:
Quote:A woman asks her husband, a programmer, to go shopping:
Dear, please, go to the nearby grocery store to buy some bread. Also, if they have eggs, buy 6.
OK, hun.
Twenty minutes later the husband comes back bringing 6 loaves of bread.
His wife is flabbergasted:
Dear, why on earth did you buy 6 loaves of bread?
They had eggs.
........What?
Probably a joke about her being unspecific, and the husband buying something totally unrelated to the previous statement, which I'm guessing can happen if you aren't careful with a computer program.
...
She tells him to buy some bread and that if they have eggs, to buy six. She thinks she's telling him to buy six eggs, but he, as a programmer, interpreted the sentence literally, as he should. She told him that if they had eggs, bread should = six. So, he bought six loaves of bread because the store did have eggs.
Get it?

tldr version
if (eggs != 0) {
  bread = 6;
}

my brother responded:
Quote:but again it is ruined by the english grammar
because the "also" logically detaches that command from the first. so he would purchase 7
and that is how you ruin a joke

In a way, however quantity of bread to be purchased was never initially specified. If the store had eggs he would have purchased six loafs of bread, not an additional six loafs.
My fear is if the store did not have any eggs, he would purchase a number of loafs equal to the pre-existing value in the uninitialized memory space he defined to count loafs to be purchased.
this is the nerdiest derail i think we have ever gone off of
Hey guys I made an engy guitar taunt frag video what do you think?
