I don't know anyone that uses rum for anything other than mixing, in which case- a $20 handle of Bacardi Silver is all you'll need.  Anything cheaper, and you risk drinking straight paint thinner, anything more expensive and you're wasting money. 

What you need to discover is if you're a Bourbon or a Scotch drinker.

i've graced my tastebuds with patron silver on a few occasions, so i'll take don julio into severe consideration

patron silver and I don't get along.

Consumed a bottle a Chimay Ale Grande Reserve along with a pizza that was far less substantial than I hoped it would be.

Discovered Irish car bombs yesterday (or whatever their more PC name is)

3 of those, about 4-5 beers, a cape cod, and a pretty big whiskey sour, makes for a pretty happy chappy. And a pretty tough morning.

And now they make these fruit flavored beers called Melvilles, which are bloody great on ice.

Damages from the bar run last night:

shot of whiskey
shot of patron silver
shot of rum


also picked up a six pack of goose island summertime beer yesterday afternoon as my first official purchase.
