So this game came out today (for free), and it's pretty damn fun. Basically it's a mix between Trackmania, TRON, and that old Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver game that probably no one else here has heard of.

Oh god the memories playing that thing. Forget that last level, but I remember the rage I had.
So Cave Story + just came out on steam. From what I gather, it's the same as the free version asides from the option for higher res sprites, the god awful new music, and achievements. That said, I still do kinda want it, but $10 is kinda eehhhh.

Oh wow, the trailer shows bits from Hell. I mean it's hardly a spoiler since the game's been out for so long, but still.

I thought the new music was fine. The reason it was dubbed awful was because somehow the version uploaded to Wiiware got the percussion bits removed.
Oh man, I just deleted like 9 games from E:/Warez/Games/ folder because of this Steam sale.
I don't know if anybody cares about this anymore, now that the wonderful Sonic Generations is out, but...

I guess Generations sold well enough for this to happen.
While it's nice Sega's pushing more titles to the pc, Sonic 4 was pretty much a disappointing pile of bleh.
Better news about a better game. Bastion's getting a free DLC pack on the 14th that includes a new fully narrated Who Knows Where about Rucks and a few leaderboard stuff.

Worst news about the best game. GSC might be closing down, cancelling STALKER 2.

That's terrible! Any news why?
It's been pretty much confirmed by now, even without an official statement.  It's a real bummer we'll never get to see where GSC was gonna take the series with the full on sequel.  I'll still play all three previous games for a long time, since the modding community might take the initiative to do new stuff, more than just a few folks, like those doing the Lost Alpha.

From the sound of it, it went down to do personal reasons with the head guy and a fallout with the console contract they were working with, I guess really cutting out the money they would get for the game perhaps.
Looks like Alan Wake will finally get on the platform it was supposed to be on from the start.

Also, news on the next Humble Indie Bundle. It's a big one.

Edit: Age of Empires 3 possibly getting Steam release.

Edit 2: It looks like Fable 1 has been given a similar registry entry.
Cave Story and Bit Trip Runner. I'm throwing money at these guys the moment they release it.

Oh god it's already up. The money was thrown.

Yep, I saw the e-mail and bought it instantly.
Who's looking for a mediocre fps with dinosaurs on the cheap? Indie royale bundle now has Dino D-Day and a number of other games.

There's a Humble Holiday and an Indie Royale that came out today ;x
Steam Holiday Sale possibly starting tomorrow.

Quote:We are sharing with our Facebook fans first, the PC launch date is set! We will be launching Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon for PC via download on Steam tomorrow (December 14). The game will be participating in the "Steam Holiday Sale" and will be 25% off at $14.99 (regular price $19.99) through January 2nd.

Also, the new Dirt racing game will be Steamworks, so it looks like they're finally ditching GFWL for what it's worth.

Edit: Anybody remember Demigod? No? Well, rumors abound that it will hit Steam soon including a 4 pack. Steam seems to be on a roll lately.

Edit 2: There will be an updated version of Hard Reset getting released soon to retail in the UK. I can only imagine it will hit Steam as a game update, but there aren't any specifics.

Quote:Bracknell, UK, 13th December, 2011 - Kalypso Media today announced a publishing deal with developer Flying Wild Hog to release an expanded and exclusive retail edition of their cyberpunk First-Person Shooter, Hard Reset, to UK retail in March 2012. Hard Reset: Extended Edition for Windows PC will drop players into a dark dystopian cyberpunk world where they’ll enjoy frantic FPS styled gameplay combined with upgradable weapons, insane boss fights, physics-based combat and an intense new storyline.

“We are very pleased to work with Flying Wild Hog to bring such an exciting and innovative title to our customers, “ said Simon Hellwig, Global Managing Partner of Kalypso Media. “The team at Flying Wild Hog is known for crafting excellent experiences, and we are pleased to expand our catalogue of games with Hard Reset: Extended Edtion.”

Features of Hard Reset: Extended Edition include

Five new levels (adding approximate two hours of gameplay to the original game)
Four new enemies, one new boss character
Updated graphics engine
Additional gameplay elements
New back-story
Two new levels for survival mode
Digging the grave hole for my wallet as we speak.
