Some notes about Alan Wake's American Nightmare was found in the steam registry. Seems this one's coming to PC a lil quicker than the original.
I thought you were posting about an American McGee game. I'm disappoint.
Edit: It's really probably worth reading Edit 2 in this post.
Welp. STALKER 2. I guess it's finally dead.

"The entire team that was working on S2 is now working on #Survarium"
https://twitter.com/#!/gscstalker/status/195183418684882944

Survivarium is an MMOFPS.

Edit: Oh, and Steam and Valve games are coming to Linux. Confirmed.
"Right now the game they have been working on the most for their Linux client is Left 4 Dead 2. Why L4D2? Basically because it is a stable code-base to do for their initial porting. They have plans to bring their other titles to Linux as well as lobby other game developers using Steam and the Source Engine to bring their games to Linux -- natively. They are not using the Wine library or anything in terms of their native Linux Steam/Source engine work."

Edit 2:
Wow, Valve also recently applied for a rather large patent that mentions new and unveiled Steam features quite a bit. Obviously, none of these are definitively happening, but this is interesting stuff.

Rentals:
[0030] A customer may purchase content on a rental basis. For example, the customer may walk into a store, such as BlockBuster Video, Hollywood Video, or some other store, and purchase a certain amount of time for renting particular content. The store may give the customer a key using any of the methods discussed above, e.g. through a coupon, encoding a key on a receipt or smart card, etc.

Pre-Paid Usage:
[0032] A customer may purchase a pre-paid subscription to content. For example, a user may purchase a card containing a predetermined amount of usage based on the fee paid. The user may also pre-pay on the Internet while accessing a site associated with the vendor of the content and participating in a pre-paid plan. The card, or other item associated with the pre-paid content may be recharged.

Valve Offering Non-gaming Software:
[0018] FIG. 4 shows components used in a system for granting access to a system and content. In one embodiment of the invention, a customer gets a coupon that includes a special offer key allowing the customer to play a selected game or set of games for a period of time. Although the word "game" is used, the special offer key may provide access to other content or services such as an application suite, such as Microsoft® Office. Unless indicated otherwise, "game" is also intended to mean content and/or services. When logging on to a server, for example, the customer provides the key. The server checks the key with a database and determines what games the customer is entitled to access as well as what period of time those games are available.

[0019] After a customer uses a special offer key and is authenticated, the customer may have a series of selections to subscribe to. For example, the customer may subscribe to a particular genre of games, such as real time strategy, an application suite, such as Microsoft® Office, or a single game, such as Half-Life®. When a package of software applications is selected, information about the package may be displayed, such as applications included in the subscription. Before, during, and after selecting a package of applications to subscribe to, ads may be displayed on the selection screen. Pricing may be shown telling how much each subscription costs and/or how long the special offer key allows access to a subscription. The subscription follows a customer from computer to computer or other electronic device. When a customer logs on using a computer, the customer obtains a ticket that gives the computer access to one or more content servers that can provide access to files needed to execute the applications contained in the subscription.

This news comes on the heels of many non-game programs appearing in the Steam registry so something rather large is happening here.

Edit 3: Forgot to mention, getting a Steam ban now doesn't completely lock out the account, it just turns off the ability to purchase new games or trade items or get gifts. That's pretty cool.

Edit 4: These people showed up in the Steam registry. http://www.hanakogames.com/ So like, expect a bunch of those weird anime story games to show up on Steam. Good to see Steam branching out into more Japanese titles (or the other way around, I don't know).
I'm extremely interested in Survarium, if it turns out good, cause it's the kind of game I've been wanting to see.  Sad to see we lost STALKER 2 though. Was very hopeful it was still gonna happen :\
The trailer for the new Portal 2 DLC featuring an easy to use puzzle creator just hit. Check out 1:14 for a little hint of Meet the Pyro as well.

so this is a kickstarter i'm sure most of us could get behind
Bastion's $6. If you don't already have it, go fix that now.
Elder Scrolls Online confirmed for next year.  3 Faction setup, placing it a millennium before Skyrim. About all there is for it.  Teaser image and video tomorrow, more at E3.

yes
Plz don't turn it into an rpg like dow2
http://www.pathofexile.com/publicweekend/

Path of Exile public weekend coming up, basically a F2P ARPG. Should be pretty cool. They also have a Kickstarter like thing up that gets you guaranteed closed beta access so you can keep playing after the weekend, cash shop currency equivalent to what you paid ($10.00 = 100 points) and so far cash shop doesn't seem p2w, just extra stash tabs and character slots right now. $3 for either, so prices aren't completely ridiculous. $15 nets you beta acess, soundtrack download and 150 points. If I like it I'm probably going to go for the $15 one.

So because Sega absolutely sucks at release dates, I just wanna remind everyone who was too busy with Click Monsters 3 or Bullet-Time Jumping 3 that Sonic 4 Episode 2 came out.

It's pretty awesome.

Heist is decent. Obviously borrowed a lot from L4D2, but with more gimmicks and style, but it feels rough around the edges. I am interested in the product of this crossover though.
Not specifically PC game news, but it's about Steam. It would appear Indie Game the Movie has shown up on the Steam registry.
