That's one of the cool things about Linux, it can be as robust or as minimalistic as you want. If SteamOS is based off of Debian, Ubuntu, or CentOS/Fedora, then you get access to a ton of applications that can turn what might start out as a minimalist setup to a full-featured desktop OS. I think Google had a different vision when it came to ChromeOS, than Valve seems to have with SteamOS.

To a point I agree but there is no obvious intent to make this a desktop ancientest. Their goals seem to be living room environments, which means desktop application support is of minimal concern. Their concern is game display and distribution, that being the case, the minimalist method is the most logical path, it's easier to provide support to as well. The chromeos model is a minimalist platform for internet usage, I expect steamos to be the same idea but for home theater gaming systems. this doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

So Steam Controller.

If you don't look at it as a replacement for traditional console controllers, but instead as a more portable way of playing cursor-based games (or shooters), it looks pretty damn cool. Mostly I want to see how the haptic feedback works. I've been waiting forever for a mainstream controller to include that.
I'd buy it just to try it out. Just bought a 360 controller to plug into my PC so that I could get into the beta, too.
If it is as universal as the 360 controller then I really want one.  It looks really cool.

Had trouble finding my 360 controller so i grabbed a ps3 and ran ds3tool to make it a 360 controller.

[/quote]That's actually what I do now, but it would still be nice for everything to just work straight-up.
The Wolf Among Us episode 1 is out today. Bought it from Steam? No problem. Problem is, I bought it from the Telltale website because I got an email from them and when I looked at the time of receiving the email it wasn't on Steam yet. It's been 2 hours since the game came out on Steam. People who bought from the Telltale website have no download link as of this post. The ETA on the download is "sometime during the Telltale work day." They go home at 5PM PST, so there's still a 5 hour period of time during which the game can come out. On top of that, the copy of the game bought from Telltale requires an initial authentication.

TL;DR Fuck buying directly from the developers to support them.
The hell didn't they just give out steam codes for it

Because that would make sense. Someone also somehow managed to upload an unfinished build of the game to the website and it was available for about 10 minutes, but wouldn't work because the authentication servers weren't up. Okay, fuck it, sending in a support ticket for a refund and buying through Steam.
Found this interesting. Killing zombie children... its not like you are killing a kid, its a zombie that happens to be a kid. Id kill a kid T-Rex or a kid Spinosaurus... They still probably want to eat me like an adult Trex or Spino would... same goes for zombies.

The fact people still get outraged over pixels never ceases to disappoint me Yesterday 8:03pm

Um, Custer's Revenge this is not. Games are becoming increasingly more realistic and the growing concern is valid. Yesterday 8:08pm

No it's not. They're still pixels, even if they are smaller. How can anyone justify anger towards a videogame. Even going with realism, how would this negatively harm anyone? Then they know they should shoot zombie children. Seems helpful to me, zombie children are probably more dangerous than zombie adults
Rumor has it Steam's having the Autumn sale for a week starting Nov. 27th, and the Christmas sale starts Dec 19th. Both sales will have the same deals.

I played the game and heard no complaints about shooting the zombie children as they were one of the more difficult targets and were somewhat more dangerous. Also my friend who is a father saw no harm in this portrayal.
