I really enjoyed this past summer's attempt at Speed Racer. It was so shiny, and it felt like it was worth my $5 to see it in the theatre.

I RECOMMEND IT. And when people's cars explode, they turn into giant bubbles. IT WAS AWESOME.

lulwat?  I was thinking about seeing it because even if it was terrible it would still probably be entertaining.  Like Evil Dead or Hudson Hawk.  Well no probably not that entertaining.

That is pretty much how I see movies. I like bad movies that know hey, what else can we do? I hate bad movies like the Disaster Movie ones that are all "NO REALLY WE ARE FUNNY YOU ARE DUMB" ones. Unexpectedly hilarious is the best kind!
I think we mentioned this before but all Wes Anderson movies=win.

Fun fact:  In each of his movies there is a scene with one or more actors under or in water corresponding to the order of Wes' films.  Example:

In his first movie, bottlerocket, there is a scene with Luke Wilson just under water.

In his second movie, rushmore, the scene with Bill Murray and the little kid in his pool after the diving board scene.

In his 3rd movie, Royal Tennenbaumsm there is the scene with Gene Hackman and the two sons under water.

In his 4th, Life Aquatic, there are 4 team Zissu members in the ocean (although that one seemed to be too easy to set up).

Then in his 5th, Darjeeling limited, there is the scene with Adrian Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman saving the two kids in the river.

I am assuming it is intentional but I can't be positive.
Hey Tragic the guy that did brick has a movie coming out that is supposed to be really good.  They say he seems to be influenced by Wes Anderson a lot in it.

The Best of 08 thread reminded me of Brick. It's basically a noir movie set in a Southern California high school. It's great. It would probably be my favorite movie of this year, except it's a couple years old, so it doesn't count.

Edit: I just noticed Surf mentioned it in the previous post. Weird.
Just watched Brazil. It was amazing.

Right Turn, Clyde.
I just saw Slumdog Millionaire last night. It's a great flick, I recommend seeing it if you can.

spot-on.
I agree. I saw Slumdog Millionaire and it is absoluetely awesome, no question. It might be a little late to tell you to go see it, but i think it's still in theaters. It got 10 golden globe nominations :o!
On an unrelated note, I just found a trailer for Crank 2:  http://www.tribute.ca/trailers/Crank+2%3...tage/17174

It looks like it couldn't be not good. Like the Evil Dead of action movies!
