There was definitely allusion to Christianity in the film. I wouldn't call it subtle, but with the focal point being the power of faith and self sacrifice, it works. Really they could have substituted it with any number of religions and it would have worked, just not with the target demographic.
It fits perfectly with the movie though. Think about it: SPOILER ALERT: all he has left after 30 years in the wasteland is his faith. When it's all you have, of course you'll kill to protect it.
Book of Eli not well hidden spoilers:

If you really go back and think about the movie, or even watch it again, the "twist" was actually set up from the get go. There were so many things that felt out of place when I was watching it that made sense after thinking about it with the twist. Also it puts the shoot out scene in a completely different context, especially the way that scene ended.
Got turned away from the mystery screening movie that I was going to see tonight. I am pissed.

But I learned that it is a non-sequel most likely PG-13 Action-Adventure Movie that was being distributed by Paramount Pictures.

I just know it was awesome and now I'm really pissed.

With that information it was probably The Last Airbender.

Maybe that, from the commercial it didn't seem much like an adventure, but who knows. Though i can't remember if it's PG13 or R

It's a drama/horror/thriller.

I'd kill to see that now.
Rewatched Ed Wood. God I love that movie, one of my personal favorites.
Just saw moon last night.  It was interesting but I don't see why everyone and their mother think's its the best thing since sliced bread.  It would help if I cared a little bit more about the main character.

It didn't help though that I was distracted during the movie by my upset stomach/bowel issues
Any good movies come out this weekend?

I thought Moon was pretty good.  A bit predictable plot wise, but I was amazed at what they pulled off with the budget they had.  Like you said though, it's really overrated.  Still, I'd recommend it to a lot of folks.
