M is fucking awesome, but Metroplois is just an absolutely incredible, orignal, and eye-opening watch.  To me, this is where tolerable Sci-fi films began.  It still shocks me to this day how Lang was able to formulate such a future.  Sure, the bi-planes flying around the skyscrappers doesn't make a whole lot of sense now adays, but watching his vision is just a fascinating experience to me.  Sure, M had sound, but Metropolis (IMO) had a bigger impact on movie-making from it's point in time going forward.

The A-Team was pretty awesome. Also, Murdoc=Ellis from L4D2.
More importantly, Murdoc = Wikus Van Der Merwe from District 9. I hope this guy gets more screen-time in stuff, he is a REALLY good actor. When you see him go to his Johannesburg accent in the movie is awesome.

Oh crap, really? Awesome.

Weird list. a bunch of really violent movies, and then 8 1/2 (perhaps my favorite movie of all time).

of other awesome foreign films, i would recommend: Delicatessen, city of lost children, Le Samurai, breathless, band of outsiders, elevator to the gallows, the bicycle thief, Nights of Cabiria, seventh sea, ln the mood for love, any Kurosawa but in particular "high and Low" and "ikiru", etc etc.

More french new wave, more italian realism.

On the topic,
活者 (To Live)

Great Chinese movie from Zhang Yimou before he didn't suck. I recommend any of his early stuff.
Saw The Girl Who Leaped Through Time yesterday.

Good clumsy-loser-gets-time-travel-and-exploits-it story. Turned into a bit of a chick flick near then end, but it was still pretty good. Anyone else see it?

Watched it about 3 years ago. Great snuggle flick. Big Grin
just finished watching this and have to say that it was a great love story.  Though I was surprised at the lack of poetic justice, it makes it a more solid film and keeps a theme that was prevalent throughout the movie.  WARNING: Do not watch it if you have a weak stomach (though it is not much worse than Saw).
I just saw online that Chris Rock is writing an american remake of high and low.

Chris Rock.

First of all, who just wakes up and says, hey, let's remake high and low
second, let's ditch this draft that david fucking mamet wrote, and have chris rock turn it into a broad comedy

who should write this adaptation, the guy who wrote glengary glen ross, or the guy who remade death at a funeral?
well, mamet has no experience remaking shit,  sooooo....

Alec Baldwin - Best performance

Chris Rock + Remake?  It worked for Down to Earth, right?

All those movies suck now. In other news, Jonah Hex is awesome!
Rewatching "A Fish Called Wanda".  I forgot how hot Jamie Lee Curtis was.

well, recently she has been selling yogurt that makes you poo.

It takes the edge off of her 80's and early 90's high points.
Lol, Totoro. Also, Toy Story 3 was amazing.
