I guess I was lucky; got along with my brother and sister (mostly) and very well with my parents. They were the ones telling me to go out and do things rather than to stop doing them. My friends would call me up to try and sneak into to town to go drinking; I'd ask my mom (to the horror of my friends) and she'd say "sure, let me get some alcohol for you in town, and we'll pick you up later tonight".
Lucky for me I guess they knew I was pretty responsible. Probably because I and my siblings never let them down; good to be the last of three sometimes.

Who ever said life is fair? Where is that written? Life isn't always fair...
[/quote]
This isn't some crap that's out of my hands. This is why it pisses me off. My parents KNOW it's unfair, and they KNOW that it should change. I'm just hoping for the best outcome.

Dude, expecting people to do the right and logical thing isn't gonna get you far. Instead of hoping for the best outcome, make it so. Tell your parents they're retards for having a double standard, straight up ask them why it's ok for her to yell at you. You may get grounded till you move out, but you can at least say YOU did the right thing. But never, ever expect the best from anyone.
Wow, just re-read that, and I realize how cynical I sound...not sure how to feel about that...

Karth did the right thing. Hypocrisy is just injustice, and tolerating injustice is abetting by it. Lowering your own expectations of people just makes
your own integrity that much more questionable. In an age where so many people turn a blind eye to moral degradation, why in would you even begin to tolerate that from your own family? Gutcheck time Hobo.

1) I know exactly where you are coming from. I'm the "good" child in my family, and half the shit my sister gets away with, I would've never at her age. It's night and day between my sister and I, and its aggravating to see her do these stupid things and actually rewarded for it. I've called my parents out for it a bunch of times, and they usually try to ignore it, but I believe they are starting to see some error in their ways. Atleast I'm trusted alot more than her, even when I was her age. She complains why she's not allowed to have friends over when no one is home, and when she uses me at that age as an excuse, My parents always say "We trusted him to not do stupid shit".
I see I'm not needed, everything that would have been said has been said. Apparently I'm my own back-up driver.
I wake up at 5:45 for school (it's currently 12:48). I have four essays to write.
I'll probably start soon but I kind of want to play Blood Harvest.
I always feel like I fell in a hole when check the forums and have several pages in each thread to catch up on.
I'm listening to music on shuffle, and I just got 3 songs in a row with the word "Rainbow" in the title.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN???

They were all by different artists, none of which were Dio. Other than that, you are quite correct.
Did a bit of board reorganization today
i agreed with all the changed, but sticky'ing the longest thread sort of defeats the point, no?

calling all fitness nerds on the block:
ive been doing extremely exhausting workouts for water polo every day, twice a day, and will continue to do them until school starts (hopefully). soreness soon turned to unbearable pain after a few days, my legs are p much gone right now.Â
i have never really done anything like it, but i am thinking about starting to slam protein after workouts? good idea or bad idea? i know there will always be pain, but maybe protein can speed up healing? its pretty important that i can walk. i eat just an average diet, but i dont eat steak erryday. it seems like a good idea, i just dont want to boost my protein intake for me to start gaining fat and shit. i need to get larger in terms of muscle. ive also heard stuff about creatine but im not entirely sure about any side effects, or if it even works at all.
any help guys?
also i spent like 5 minutes looking for this thread until remembering caff stickied it. d'oh.
if you want to build muscle and speed up recovery one of the best things you can do is just plain start eating more. for real, if you wanna get bigger, the only way that's gonna happen is to start eating like you're bigger. powerlifters/bodybuilders don't get big by accident, it takes a lot of work in and out of the training room.
if you wanna get big fast look into
GOMAD. Obviously a gallon is pretty fucking rough starting out but even just a 1/2 gallon a day will do a lot for your physique.
Beyond that, it's incredibly frustrating but try to count calories and figure out what kind of macronutrient ratios you're taking in. If you cook a lot for yourself,
wolfram alpha is fucking amazing with helping you figure out serving balancing
Geoff, I'd recommend the fast-acting kind of protein shakes, there's two kinds you can buy, one that's more of a meal supplement and one that is post-workout. Creatine can also do good for recovery.
thanks caff, will look into that tomorrow.Â
@duck, im not sure about gomad, because the only milk that is almost always available in my house is skim and im kind of lactose intolerant. im sure even a 1/2 gallon will give me killer shits.Â
so everything aside, it is a good idea to boost protein intake to get bigger? im losing weight and i can still eat whatever i want. i mean, gettin skinny is good but i want to gain muscle.
Protein will give you better muscles and get you bigger, but you'll need to up your (not shit) food intake to give them enough energy. If you don't you'll just get skinnier.
alright, i just eat when im hungry. how much should i be eating?
from the gomad link:
Quote:I'm lactose intolerant and I only have one pair of pants to spare.
They make lactose free milk, called Lactaid, and also most drug stores carry lactase which is the digestive enzyme that people who are lactose intolerant lack. One or the other is usually a suitable solution. I also recommend 'NOW Foods Super Enzymes,' just as a general digestive enzyme (it doesn't include lactase enzyme however).
and skim milk is fine
If you're looking to get bigger/stronger, you should def boost your protein intake, but honestly unless you're eating really terribly boosting carb and fat intake won't kill you and should probably be encouraged to some degree. I bought
this because it's dirt cheap nad I don't really care for sugary drinks, I know squishy posted some links to good protein and creatine supplements in the workout thread.
Whey protein is gonna be the stuff that's absorbed quickly. It's dirt cheap (thanks dairy industry), great for pre/post workout shakes. Casein protein is absorbed more slowly, great for protein throughout the day or when you go to sleep. Any kind of meat (esp fish), eggs, milk, and peanut butter are all pretty fantastic sources for protein if you're having trouble figuring out how to up your intake.
as for eating, eat every 4-5 hours whether you're hungry or not if you're looking to get bigger. as to how MUCH you should be eating... well that really depends on HOW fast you want to get bigger. The more you eat, the faster you'll bulk, but obviously once you reach or just pass your target size you'll be cutting fat afterwards (since you're an apparently avid swimmer that shouldn't be too difficult for you, swimming is fucking great for fat-burning if you're doing it proper)
really, since you're already in reasonable shape, and aren't afraid if what it'll take to cut (lots of cardio), if you just wanna bulk go nuts. for a while I was trying to cut and get stronger at the same time, got frustrated with how slow strength progression was and now I basically just eat whatever, so long as it isnt fucking garbage.

how the fuck is my daily energy expenditure like ~2400 calories sitting around on the computer
