Thats a really easy pattern, its just large and cumbersome, not to mention anyone buying something like that is going to pay through the nose for shipping

Went on amazon, and saw that prime members will now be able to instant stream videos... wut  ???
That's been going on a while, but but for student prime members, only full price ones
Exam in 3 hours and then the joy of classes until 6 running on no sleep.

I'll hate myself by the day's end, but being sure I won't miss the exam is worth it.
So, I got bored a couple weeks ago and decided to pump my bass as high as it would go, both to compliment my sick beats and to hear my door frame rattle from Big Daddies in Bioshock.

As a testament to just how often one of my roommates is around, it took him till today to ask me to turn it down.
So, exercising for the first time in 3 months doesn't feel that good. Almost passed out, almost threw up, got over it somewhat, then had my body shut down 2/3 through my routine, had my leg cramp up completely just fucking walking back to my apartment (fixed that once I remembered that I know how to give a good massage and loosen muscle knots... just never had to test it on myself before).

Holy shit I hadn't felt this physically incompetent in a loooong time.

So when my Western Digital 1.5TB drive went (sort of) belly up, I RMA'ed it but also ordered a brand new Samsung because this was the 2nd WD drive that had failed on me in less than 6 months. I'm a brand loyalist, not a blind fanboi and I'm more than willing to try a new brand given sufficient reason to, hell, I used to be an Intel fanboi who thought AMD was shittie, now I sit here on a Hex-Core AMD, but I digress.


I used the Samsung for about 13 days as my primary drive, and I noticed many slowdowns. When people join red, I can see the time the client connects via HLSW and (for the vast majority of people, SSD users normally about 3-5 seconds) it takes anywhere from 45-80 seconds from when they press 'connect' to when their client finally sends their playername data and they're fully connected and able to join a team a few seconds after that.

It used to normally take me only 15-20 seconds to do the same, when I got the Samsung drive and suddenly my connect times were in line with everyone else, and I got sadface. I normally got to load just behind SSD users and significantly faster than most, so my e-Peen got to get all purple-headed and vein-ey on game map changes and shit.


Everything was loading noticeably slower, and even my Windows disk score went from 6.0 to 5.8


Got my new replacement WD drive a few days ago, when I was copying the partitions over I was watching the drive activity like a hawk. The Samsung drive was maxing out at like 95-100 MB/s read speed at 100% utilization while it was feeding data to the new WD drive, who was sitting at like 75% utilization and idling in-between spurts of writing at 130 MB/s *

Feel vindicated in my brand loyalty, also hoping this drive doesn't shit a brick too.





* Further tests included copying large files from a different WD drive to the Samsung drive, saw identical numbers with the reverse, reading from WD drive to the (now blank and reformatted) Samsung drive, the WD would read a chunk at around 130 MB/s and then go idle for a second while the Samsung drive was consistently pegged at 100% writing at only 95-100 MB/s
I just got a pair of Newton's to train how to do forefoot running and now that I'm finally adjusting to it I really like it. The running style is easier on your knees and better for you overall. It kills your calves though.

I can run in ski boots, does this count? I assume it uses the same overall motions
