that could be a problem
pulled out my bicycle for the first time in a while
forgot how hard it was to pedal that thing in high gear
you would think that my legs would be in fine shape after running that 10k

anyways, thinking about biking to work instead of driving.
4.5 miles isn't bad i guess

the only thing that i worry about is sweating up my work clothes and being nasty for work
maybe just bring a backpack with my work clothes in it?
I'd say go for it, but leave plenty of time to get there. Biking in a hurry -> sweaty -> ew.

Depends on where you live / where you work though. My home office has a shower so there are a bunch of people who bike in. The last office I worked in was the same. My current branch office is tiny and does not have a shower (a major deciding factor for me considering I live in VA and its been 70-80+ here since like February). Also depends on how sweaty you get and how good your antiperspirant/deoderant is Tongue

That's what i do most places.  I have a biking shirt, and i have normal clothes in a backpack.  I tend to carry a backpack to hold my lights and helmet anyways, so i need the shirt so i don't go walking around with all that backsweat caused by the backpack in the first place.

Also at0m, ride on the streets.  share the road. who cares if it's an interstate, you pussy :-)

No, as someone who spent a good deal of their time biking at university and driving a fuck-ton at home, the road should be the last place you bike. If there's a sidewalk and/or a bike lane/bike path get the fuck on that first.

On any road with a lot of traffic you are just asking for problems IMO

Unless your province mandates that riding on sidewalks is illegal, and grants cyclists 1 meter from the curb on all city streets. Then you think helmets aren't for pussies.
this. In my case, however, there are neither sidewalks nor a bike lane, and I'd be riding down a 6-lane thoroughfare for most of it and crossing over an interstate in the middle. Not a fan.

This depends on the city in the US, in some cities its "illegal", but never enforced. Not to mention people really don't give cyclists proper clearance, hence why Id rather stay on a sidewalk.

To me at least, its very irresponsible when there's a bike path RIGHT THERE, the city spent money to build you a path right next to the road, why the fuck are you still on the street? </rage>

I love riding my bike and fully support more people making the choice to do so over driving their cars, just whenever possible don't do it on the street, to make things safer for both cyclists and motorists.

I don't mean in the middle of the road. But no one should have any problems staying as close to the right of the road as they can on a 35mph street.

In most states it is actually illegal for someone to bike on the sidewalk, since it's uber-dangerous for the pedestrians who don't see you coming and might just randomly jump all over the place.  That shit's the stuff that will kill you.

Of course, i've been in chicago and i don't think anyone should ride a bike in those streets ever.  Portland is one of those mega biking cities.  Most streets have bike lanes, and those that don't are parrelleled by bike highways, these quiet residential neighborhoods that pretty much only bikes power through.  It's pretty amazing.  You can bike everywhere in the city at either the same rate or just a little slower than public transit.
