I got a letter from my Grandmother today. Her messages are getting shorter. I'm worried about the both of them.
It's been a long time since I've seen them in person.
Just got back from Minneapolis. Apparently there was a sci-fi convention at the hotel I was staying at.
An idea just occurred to me, now I only wish I had the funds to assemble it.
Water cooling system for PC >> Fish tank chiller in system after radiator.
Not sure about heat dissipation though. My X4 980 is a 125W CPU,If I were to get a chiller rated for 130-150 watts.. I wonder if I could get away with a radiator-less system?
Algae and scale will clog up your pcs water block. Any anti-algae and anti-mineral stuff will kill your fish.
It would work if he was just using the fishtank as a heatsink though, with a closed system going to the computer <-> a condenser coil in the fishtank
use mineral oil instead of water...

use beer and have a keg instead of a fishtank
beer would get warm though; you would have go English style.

There's no fish tank or fish involved in this plan.....
Just a chiller.

[/quote]Ah, I get it. Instead of sinking your heat into a fishtank, you want to use a fish tank cooling system to cool your computer. You know a fish tank chiller is essentially just forced-air radiator, right? So you'd be introducing a point of failure without really getting rid of your radiator.

Correct. I wasn't aware of the construction of them though, although after investigation it seems you're right. =/ Â
I did find a number of smaller, thermoelectric chillers that are designed to be installed in a sump or similar reservoir through a plug hole but the most powerful of them I could find was 50 watts of dissipation. I'd need at least 3 of them, and at $100 a pop, building a vastly superior traditional water cooling system for less overall cost would be easier.
Maybe if I get a mini-fridge and put a large multi-gallon reservoir and radiator
in the fridge... lol Â
On another note, what do you do when you're trying to download a 3.3GB .iso image but the server on the other end is limiting your download to only 250KB/s?
You download it on a
really fast server then download it from there when it's done. Apparently the server the .iso was on is only on a 100Mbit port, too.
God I wish I could download 3.3GB in under 4 minutes...

A comic thing I found on the internets.
I have a voice over and soundtrack that follows me. Only the soundtrack is Dwight Yoakam and the voice over is Vince Vaughn

Did the voice start out kind of funny at first but then slowly became more annoying over time?
