Fun fact: MSG, yeah that salt that people think is bad for you which really
isn't, is a major player that gives the flavor of umami.
dem excessive MSG night sweats though.
I'm amused whenever someone who doesn't play any of the games in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, uses a 40k meme. GG Karth.

^that's amusing.
For the record, knowing the lore isn't a negative thing, it's a pretty awesome universe. You should just play the miniatures game, so I have more people to talk to about it / inspiration to paint my minis.

i have read a couple of the books and would at least believe i am minimally versed in the lore
Article on reddit today about the dancing boys of Afghanistan and the non-existance of the concept of rape. Like any westerner I was disgusted but have to wonder if it's actually traumatizing for the boys considering society views it as status quo. Boys get molested and become molesters but few if any see it as bad over there. I'm struggling with cultural relativism and what seems to us like an absolute moral facet. Am I actually justified condemning this practice when it's simply a cultural norm there? This isn't a new custom for humanity-it's happened forever- but is it politically incorrect to label this as a barbaric behavior that needs the intervention of other cultures?

Culture, region, customs, or any other reason is no excuse to violate international human rights or victimize others.

[/quote]I think the point he is trying to make is that what we as Westerners take as absolute inherent human rights really
doesn't dictate what another culture considers human rights. As hard as it seems other people might all have agreed that this is OK.
On the other hand, there is in fact an article called
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was drafted by the UN for all of its member states. Of which Afghanistan is one. I read up a bit on the topic and it really is a tricky subject. As terrible as it sounds there is nothing strictly illegal about the practice itself, because it is mostly consensual. However, it leads to actual problems such as "members of Afghanistanâs security forces... sexually [abusing] boys âin an environment of criminal impunity.â"
[1]Â In addition, there is a big difference between consent and willingness.Â
It really is a topic that requires an outside worldview, and from a western human rights perspective it is a travesty. But it also seems like everyone is afraid of making enemies of Afghanistan and no one wants to do anything about it.
So, try this on for size- if tit's he cultural norm in afghanistan, its probably morally objectable. Not just to your European influenced morals, but any morals that value life, some form of honesty, and personal freedoms.
