Then it gets brighter and brighter, until you finally see the rocket and the fiery trail of cloud behind it.
Then the sky turns dark, but you still see the cloud trail. It goes higher and higher up, until you see the boosters separate, and hear the sonic boom.
They fall farther and farther behind the shuttle, which is now so far away it looks like a star shooting across the heavens, and then out of sight.
