well hit up cable/telecoms places in your area, at the very least you can prob land tech support at a call center. the one i got hired at has over 1000 employees, so i'm going to guess that in general they're kind of large (though we are a major headquarters so...)

I have not had A - The Money, or B - The Time to update, and Im already enormously pissed I lost data because Vista fails at copying files on your desktop
Win 7 earned my eternal gratitude when it automatically swapped out all the device drivers for my new hardware. Although it got a few minus points for making me reactivate via phone.

I activate my copy on my laptop online, then a couple months later, activated the same copy on my desktop via phone when it decided I wasn't supposed to have it on two systems at once.
