The good morning text I got:
Quote:Thanks for pulling me to the dance floor in my dream. It was a very nice dance.
Oh physical world, you troll me so hard.

"ahhh...
No pleasure,
no Rapture,
no EXQUISITE SIN,
greater
than CENTRAL AIR."
(Well, actually, my new purchase is just a portable apartment A/C with a window duct. But it still feels sinfully good to have a cold breeze on me.)
Brutal heat wave knocked me out for a few hours yesterday. I woke up and realized I'd slept through the scrimmages of the afternoon and evening. Tried to get an air conditioner from Wal-Mart late last night, but they were out.
Home Depot hooked me up first thing this morning.
I wrestled it upstairs and drank glass after glass of ice water during the installation, until it was all in and working.

[/quote]Did Linksys stuff start sucking all of a sudden? For a long time they were the gold standard in consumer-grade networking hardware. I've literally _never_ had a problem with Linksys hardware. It does what it says on the tin, which is more than I can say for some of the D-Link stuff I've bought in the past.

I've had two 4 port routers, a 4 port WG switch and an 8 port WG switch all after about a year or two of sustained use start dropping about 70% of the packets that traveled through them, all over the past 7 years.
Currently at my work, the same 4 port WG switch I can Wireshark on either side of and confirm that it as well drops a good 50% of the data that travels through it.
My personal experience with them has been nothing but shit, their products have all died in a very predictable timeframe and cease to function properly after that.

I currently have a linksys wrt54Gs, a linksys ezsx something or other switch, and a WAP54g all running ddwrt. they work great. i've never had a problem with anything other than the fact that as a router, the wrt54gs was underpowered, but i no longer use it as a router, just a switch. I picked up a new motorola surfboard for a modem and i'm still running my dell dimension 4700 as a router with pfsense.
pretty sure i'll keep on buying linksys stuff til i'm a big boy and can afford cisco home office shit

Because he's HeK? I don't even know how I know this, since I've never been to his house either. But it's very common for IT professionals to do
