I owned the presentation that I have to do for one of my class.
Everyone was entertained.
Had a really bad day at work. Left early. Hung out at the comic/hobby shop from 5-8, got a bunch of painting done (and complimented several times), and met two new 40k players. I will build a new playerbase in this area or I will die trying.

[/quote]Alternate Worlds up near me, off York. I haven't gotten down to the one in Glen Burnie yet, it's quite a hike so I'm trying to rouse up the troops up here. The whole reason GW opened a store up here was because of sales projections from Alternate Worlds, and now that the GW store closed down we'll hopefully see an uptick in players...

enmasse has sent me a few codes to hand out for the last Tera closed beta this weekend.
If anyone is interested in being able to try the game for free, get at me. Especially if you're interested in the game.
k
thx
Why the hell not. It will at least be interesting

this seems much more like a stress test/demo than a beta. Which server?

Whoooo Alternate Worlds! I've been buying comics there since I was about 10 years old. I finally closed down my reserve box there about two years ago because I just wasn't buying as many anymore, and they told me I could open it back up anytime, no matter how many (or few) comics I was getting. The joys of being a 20+ year customer
I realized last night that one can move their .minecraft/saves folder into your Dropbox folder and then symlink .minecraft/saves to dropbox/saves and have your worlds available on any of your PC's, automatically sync'ed as soon as you save.
I can now load maps on gaming PC, dick around, save and immediately open save on my laptop and the changes are there. Yay.
Only downside was the initial uploading of 532MB worth of minecraft saves.
Even better is I've got Dropbox on my server as well, so I can generate maps on my server of my SSP worlds to show off if I want. A normally 100% unfeasible idea because a deep render is 1.5GB+ of images.

Isn't that functionally the same as running a SMP server with a password?

I would already be doing that, except a few of the mods I use (Namely TehKrush's Timber mod, Neph's Missing Blocks Mod and all of Risugami's) don't have SMP versions.... and running a server for the same purpose would be quite useless if there's no intertubes.

I played around with a giant hamster tank for several hours. Several hours grinding like a mother fucker. Yeah, I don't think I'll ever play MMOs again.
We marked down the shit out of our Easter candy today. Scored this for about 11 bucks.
4.65 pounds of Cadbury Creme Eggs.

I am jealous, I haven't eaten any this year. Are those the ones with the filling that resemble a real egg (with the yolk)? Those are my fav.

That they are. Planning on making these last as long as possible, and starting a yearly tradition of this.
So my building finally got a bomb threat at 4am last night. Despite loud emergency alarms I was never disturbed and no one ended up bothering me. I learned about the whole thing when I woke at 11. Especially lucky that no one knocked down my door because I was sleeping naked and had a lot of weed on my desk.
also there goes all of hek's free time for a while

you know, the problem with bomb threats is that you
can not go into "cried wolf" mode. Â As nice as it would be to shrug the 50th call off, the risk is still too great. Â Especially, since this has been going on for awhile and the perpetrator is obviously trying to get people to stop caring so if (when) the real one hits, there are alot more people involved.
Let's review some basic math: "people" + "bombs" = "bits" Â And trust me, "bits"
really suck to pick up. Â So the Pittsburgh area emergency responders should not be slacking on this. Â This is why it was wrong of emergency personnel not wake your ass up, and then bust you for weed. Â
TLDR; hide your shit when emergency personnel might have probable cause to enter your dorm room on a daily basis.

I will be more careful about what I leave out but the campus is far from slacking off, we have bag checks in every building. The thing I've never understood is the idea of bomb threats though. If they're trying to hurt people why not just do it without the warning?
Depends on what they're trying to accomplish. If they just want to disrupt normal life and cause anxiety, they're doing a mighty fine job, no explosives required.
1) Disruption: let's say you just want to cause some fear and panic, and don't actually plan on setting anything off.  You've denied the the use of an entire facility for hours, tied  up emergency personnel, and made everyone's day just a little bit worse.
2) Information: Let's say I'm going to do something you're not going to like, but I don't know how exactly you're going to respond, I'll fake it and see what you do, so I can plan better. Â So this is like a preview of how emergency services reacts. Â The heightened security posture persisting through the next couple of days will eventually revert to a baseline, but their techniques will probably not change.
3) Conditioning: someone is systematically conditioning responders that these are hoaxes; the last 4 were hoaxes, this one was a hoax, the next one will be a hoax. Â Â
