So it turns out that time delay locks are evil.

You wind up the lock with the key and it ticks for a set amount of time, then there is a window within that time frame where you can turn the key to unlock, otherwise it keeps ticking and you miss your opportunity.
Turn the key too soon and you have to start over, too late and... well, start over. There is no indicator as to when you can turn the key.

So after a while of trying, I figured out the windows.....

Holy shit time locks are ingenious for protecting shit from burglars. You can leave the keys there and they will still give up and leave.
