James, you don't have your servants to fan you while you try to sleep on your pile of money?

[/quote]One trick is to have a box fan on a dresser, pointed from the foot of your bed up towards your face (or across it). That'll give you enough air circulation to at least _feel_ a smidge cooler. And another trick is to literally wet the sheet. Dunk it in cool water (or run the bathtub on it), wring it out, then sleep under just the sheet with the fan blowing on it. Instant cool.

Also running cold water over your wrists for a minute or two makes you feel significantly colder. I also like putting ice cubes in one of those mitten-style face cloths and keeping it on my forehead. Feels good, man
Luin and I used to tape a box fan to the bottom of our sheets, inflating the bed.
Air Bed is what we called it and it was good.
Then we bought a portable air conditioner (which are now nearly half the price we paid) and life was good at 18 degrees.

it's versus' faptent all over again!
In college, my summer electric bills were $150+ then I bought a brand new window unit, $45 consistently. Go get yourself some freaking efficiency.Â
Today my brother sent me a text asking if I was playing wow. Since I spend 16+ hours a day, well, nevermind what I'm doing, but its not wow. Anyways, I told him I was not, and he told me I was farming the shit out of hellfire ramparts. So, fuck that. Damn chinaman even put an authenticator on my account. Which is now frozen at my request. I may not have played in over a year, but still.Â
I also had two light colonels order me to ignore whatever the other one tells me and do what they say. Normally I would bring both of them together and tell them to talk to me when they unfuck themselves. It works for my joes, but I think more tact is required here. I'm glad I'm not permament party here, because any of my normal approachs would probably get me court martialed.Â
wait what's your rank again

Fuck me.
I work in a mexican restaurant. Like all mexican restaurants, we have queso dip. Unlike any other mexican restaurant, we're 'celebrating' our tenth anniversary of being a mexican restaurant by giving away a fucking cup of queso to every schmuck that comes in on Wednesday. Apparently corporate is expecting sales to be doubled, or almost tripled from usual.
Guess who gets to work a 10 hour shift on Wednesday!
Fucking fridge seems to have stopped working as of last night. Just stocked the thing with a brand new supply of groceries a couple days ago. Not exactly sure what to do to salvage the situation.

I suppose you could pad it with bags of ice, like in the olden days.

Ok, so I couldn't post this right after it happened for reason that will become apparent...
I work an 8-4:30 shift and on Friday. I volunteered to do some tutoring in Georgetown. Anyone who's been in DC knows that Metro-rail totally ignores Georgetown, so I rode off on the Red line and hopped the bus into Georgetown. I wrapped the tutoring around 8:30ish and went out to the corner to catch the bus going back. It's dark out and about 102 degrees with high humidity. The bus back never came, I walked 2 miles in the heat and reached the Metro. I'm sweaty and smelly, I haven't eaten since lunch, and I want to take a shower.
I'm on my way back in the Red line. We get to Judiciary Square and the train holds at the station for 10 minutes. We get halfway to Union Station, the train holds for 10 minutes. We get to Union Station, the train holds for 5 minutes. We get halfway to Rhode Island Ave, train holds for 10 minutes. We get to the metro depot, and the train comes to a full stop for 5 minutes. A 40 min Metro ride ends up lasting an extra 40 min.
The conductor finally pulls her head out of her ass and we get to my stop. I walk over to my apartment and THE LIGHTS ARE FUCKING OUT. Every other building around has power but for some reason MY APARTMENT HAS NO FUCKING POWER, BUT MY NEIGHBORS DO. So I whip out the flashlight from my messenger bag (it always seems to come in handy) and key in to my apartment.
We call Pepco, they say the power isn't coming back until SUNDAY at 10AM (it's Friday)
MY roommate and I call around and agree to sleep over at a reletave's place. We pack up our shit in the dark, in the heat, with no AC, for the overnight. As we're in the car leaving, THE POWER COMES BACK. MO-THER-FUCKER!

Shit man, it doesn't sound like it could get any worse. Sucks that all that happened, but at least the power
did return, even if it did make you waste a bit of time.

Yeah, it did resolve, but the fates were really jerking me around Friday.
