Went to the Yankee game last night which went late. Because it went so late, couldn't make the train home (last one leaves around 1:00, when the end had ended). So we're stranded in the city until morning with our tanks already running on empty. Sat in a waiting room for several hours full of crazy around us. Didn't get home until 6:15 in the morning, would have been later if my dad hadn't helped bail us out with a ride at a nearby station (as the train to our hometown train station would still be a few hours after that). Woke up at 4PM. What a night.

That's when I leave and return home on M/W as well! Except, I actually pay the school money to do so :/
I'm going to have to take night courses next semester. It is impossible for me to get a full-load otherwise.
I hate night courses.

Muffin.
My grandpa is in the hospital and probably dying. He's 89 so it's not totally unexpected but it still sucks.
This week has been unrelenting, just one obligation after another. Not to mention several group projects which don't usually go smoothly, just wish I had some room to breathe.

oh wtf his quote on his lab's website is "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet"
Between my freshmen and sophomore years in college one of the people we went to eat with all the time killed himself. : /
I'd also mention back in 2006 my cousin hanged him/herself because of my grandma told him he couldn't have a sex change and he was being bullied really bad in high school. What really pissed me off is that the bullies came to the funeral, I know this because a close friend of his told me, and I totally wanted to kick the shit out of them.
If I hadn't been in band I definitely would have killed myself. I've actually written to my old band director and told him about that.
I stabbed myself in the throat with a straw on accident on tuesday. On the inside of my throat. Hard. It's like having strep but it didn't go away after a day or two.

nope nope nope nope, don't want to leave the house anymore. Got all dressed and groomed and just nope.
I don't want to be an old hermit with 40 years of old newspapers and a clan of feral cats in my house, but Jesus, it's starting to look possible.

Rejected to my home medical school, despite having academic stats far and above their expectations. I just don't understand, I did everything I was supposed to and more. Years of research experience, worked a long time at a local clinic, good GPA, great MCAT, 5 letters of recommendation, leadership. Expressed in my secondary application that I really wanted to attend UW, and the interview day went well. Just...rejected.
This cycle, I applied to 14 schools, of which 4 have now rejected me. I have one more interview coming up (one week from today), but after that, nothing. It's been mostly silence, which makes me think something's wrong with my application. Not sure what to do with myself anymore.

From what I've been told about Med School is that you don't get in first try.
Keep your head up, keep yourself occupied, and just reapply for Med School next year.

Yes, this, because there are so many "overqualified" applicants so it's a hit-or-miss type of thing.
Also for our med school, I've heard that they really value extracurriculars or just something that stands out from the regular volunteering at a hospital etc. because of the fact that most people who apply are all excellent academic-wise.

Supposedly yeah, UWSMPH really emphasizes life experience, and as such, their mean age of matriculants is around 24. Still, I am aware of someone else applying with identical stats as me (37 MCAT, 3.8-3.9 GPA), who was accepted, and is no more than one year older than me. Med apps really are a crapshoot. Good schools will find any reason to reject you. Lower schools will yield-protect you (reject or waitlist you because they think you'll go to a better school). Just...damnit.
EDIT: Still have an interview on Monday. It's regarded as one of the most stressful schools to interview at. Wish me luck.

Good luck mayne. I knew several guys who applied to med school and it took them a few times to get in to the school they wanted. Perseverance amigo.
Doctors discovered a large mass in my wife's grandmother's pancreas today. Biopsy on Wednesday but it's not looking good. My mom was also doing some geneology research and discovered that we have an ancestor who was killed in a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia.
