copy/paste from my fb note
So today I woke up and realized I only had 10 minutes to get ready and get to Calculus class. So hurriedly get ready and I sprint out the door running across the street. When I hit the dirt of the park, I slip and take a nasty spill, landing oin my left leg and hands. Leg is dirty and drenched. Made it to class with seconds to spare, we're learning derivatives, the only thing I really somewhat remember from summer. So right before Chem I realize I forgot my lab shit so after it ends, I run back to Evans Way to grab my shit, then TO the Griffin Building. Legs are numb from going so fast for so long.
I go to the bookstore and get an umbrella before next class, which is Chem lab, which as usual is a pain. Half way through my body starts cursing at me for lack of food. So we finish an hour early and get food. I go to use the brand-new umbrella for the first time- it's broken, about four of the metal parts have ripped through the nylon. I go down to the bookstore, exchange it, use the new one to get back to the room, change my pants, eat, then lay down. Left leg is a bundle of discomfort, the cold water/insane amount of use must have kept it numb until now. Oh and I STILL haven't played The Sacrifice yet. FFFFF
Work is sending me to Kingston for a 'competition' with the Canadian Forces Army.
The problem is:
a) It's the
Army. I work for the
Airforce.
b) They have me listed as a Corporal, instead of an officer-level civilian.
c) The 'competition' is three days long, 12-15 hours a day.
d) Food will be provided and I cannot claim meals.
e) Since we are listed as NCMs, we have bunks in shared accommodations, opposed to the individual hotel rooms specified on our union's contract.
f) I leave on the 11th, I got the details of the arrangements today.
g) I have to drive from Ottawa to Kingston as there are no connecting flights.
h) Some other crap that I cannot discuss....
Ensign.
It's called "it's ok if you're late to lecture, so long as you don't disrupt the class."
Seriously.

Sounds like you've got some pretty decent grounds to refuse to go, friend.

Calc isn't a just lecture, sadly. Attendance is taken, and lateness is penalized.

EVERYTHING IS TIRED
Paypal has frozen my account. It tells me that I have disputes and gave me a dispute number. I go into the resolution center and it tells me that I have no disputes, and when I search using the code they gave me it says it does not match any case. luckily I only have $10 in the account but Fuck paypal, I could have gotten L4D2. >

Is this some sort of difference between a college and a university that I've been unaware of all this time? Or is something else going on?

I don't think so. I walked in half an hour late to my college class, and all I did was say "Sup?" to my teacher, and sit down. Didn't have a penalty or nothing like that...

It mostly depends on how full of themselves the faculty are tbqh.
In order to avoid a quote pyramid.
My university is cracking down on people who are cutting class. And since it's a small university, teachers KNOW your face.

It's called "Some people/places are different from other people/places."
450 person lectures, fuck yeah.
The profs do recognize you if you sit in the first three rows and ask questions though.
Not that I don't skip class sometime.
