Browsing the archives of a different thread....Fuck I miss FailMedic. What a nice soul - I wish the best for him.
God fucking dammit. I've really gone and shot myself in the foot, again. Just realized that the final for one of my summer classes ended today when I thought it started today; not doing the final is an automatic failure. I had a 98% and told my parents that there was no way in hell I was going to get anything lower than an A in that class about two days ago. I'm gonna try to convince my instructor that I couldn't take the test because of my modem dying or some shit, pretty sure it wont work though. Grades are also released tomorrow and when my parents ask to see them, it's gonna be ginormously gaytastic and go something like this.
Also means I'm up to about $1,000 bucks now in debt to my parents to pay for classes I've failed so far. I need to get my shit together and stop being so god damn lazy in College.
Go talk to the prof, honestly explain your mistake, and ask if there is anything you can do to redeem yourself. Be honest, don't lie, don't beg, and DONT FUCKING CRY (unless you have tits). They might cut you a deal to let you not fail. Not keep your A, but not fail. If you had an A going into the final, they're a lot more likely to help you out so long as you're up front and GET OFF THE FUCKING INTERNET AND GO RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

I agree with Atom. I was in a situation somewhat-close to your situation. I called the Professor, told him up front, and she was honestly more forgiving then I thought. Best history course I ever took, really interesting stuff.

[/quote]Lesson #1 that I wish someone had told me freshman year in college: Professors don't teach just to be sadists to students. If you're putting in the effort, and you don't bullshit them, they'll give you the benefit of the doubt 90% of the time.

Well I called and got no answer so I left him a e-mail pretty much saying that I screwed up and asking if there was anything I could do to soften the blow on my grade from missing the final. Still haven't gotten a response back yet but I'm hoping for the best. If not I'll be taking 20 credit hours worth of classes next term :-X
Thanks for the advice though +1s

This happened to me last year.
Final was Monday morning; I thought it was Tuesday morning.
I realized my mistake a few hours after the final ended.
Contact the professor ASAP, and, chances are, you'll be given some sort of option. I took the make up final next quarter without having to retake the entire course again. Since you have such a high score going in, the professor will be more than likely to take pity on you.
It really sucks, but professors are surprisingly human.
You know, at the US Army Engineer School, if you missed something like an Exam, or class, they just recycled you. Bam, period, "you have been recycled to class XX-XX which begins in 4 weeks, you are being temporarily assigned as the XO of a Basic Training Company until the class begins, get out of my office."
It's a great way to learn some personal responsibility.Â
In other news:
Today a comrade from OCS changed his facebook picture showing off his new stetson and 1st CAV patch. I'm here actually thinking about selling vacuum cleaners to pay the bills, and this fucker who ended up branching quartermaster is wearing crossed sabers and has a Bradley.
Fuck my life, Fuck it hard.Â
Ugh I know how you feel though not in a military sense
Hard to beat the jelousy but the only way I've had limited success in forgetting about it is to just keep your head in the present moment and appreciate what you have and the things you have going for you in the future :-\
I'm sure you know this to some extent tho
School called me two weeks before classes started to tell me that I lost one of my grants and that I needed to give them an additional $5000 by the 23rd to still be able to attend my last semester.
I woke up this morning to take my car to the mechanic to get some stuff fixed and get it inspected, to find out that it'd been towed for having an expired safety inspection. I hate Virginia.
Oh, this is where this thread went.
Why is this sticky?
Starcraft 2 just patched the "play as guest" exploit (and you have to update otherwise it won't let you play) so now I can't play SC2 offline unless I buy the full game.
Too bad I just spent $400 on a hotel and will be likely spending $400 for classes next quarter within the week as well
torrent for singleplayer, people were playing pirated beta u kno
Hmmm but I'd rather not redownload
Is there simply some kind o crack I can use to get around the login and then get rid of it when I decide I want to spend $60
Pretty darn sure I'm going to fail tomorrow's Physics midterm. It's about stuff that rotates. I don't like things that rotate.
