I'm confused.
Fine.
What the?  They were just trying to comfort Karth, when did it become an injustice?  Give zane a break.
No bloodshed guys, please. Thanks for all the kind comments and comfort. I was pretty drunk when I wrote that post and probably shouldn't be thinking about this kind of shit when my brain is effectively dead in the water. I really want to work on improving my self-confidence this semester and that starts with liking who I am or improving myself.

i recommend reading three books

No More Mr. Nice Guy!
Models by Mark Manson
How to Win Friends and Influence People

the first will directly address the nice guy syndrome and what the fuck to do about it
the second will give you a definition of the modern day man and how to be one
the third will take a less woman oriented approach at just being a better human being

also the first two books can be easily obtained via pdf downloads online, the third probably but im not so sure about it
There is no bloodshed and no one was targeted out of malice. If a friend says or does something you feel is misguided or offensive, not drawing their attention to it is a disservice. Nothing ends up getting learned or realized in the conversation otherwise. My preference is for knowledge and open communication over peaceful ignorance and fluff, but I know that's not a universally held preference.

------

Loving yourself doesn't mean you will get what you want, how you want it. But being self-assured and confident in who you is often attractive, so you will get more opportunities to connect with others. The only way anything will ever change is through internal, individual realization, regardless of how many books you read or how many opinions you hear.

I know this because I  have hordes of women clambering over each other to get to me and because I am perfect in my imperfections and you can read about it in my 12 part audiobook program for self actualization which also come with a fedora and matching trench coat.

i hope you're not knocking my last post. although you're right in that internal change is pretty much the only thing that gets shit done, its often hard to get on that correct path to finding the change that will reward the self instead of continually blaming the self and others about shit. the three books i listed will help get on a good path

and trust me, for me this is recent. ive only begun reading these books as of the new year. but im seeing good things out of the lessons ive learned from all 3

100% bro talk here, you're not unattractive. But you can't flirt for shit. Lurk around on /r/seduction and /r/socialskills. Sometimes it can be neckbeards attempting to give out armchair advice, but there's actually quite a bit of quality material there. Also /r/malefashionadvice. I know you just don't care about it, but if you need confidence or generally just want to feel awesome all the time, it's a huge start.

There is a difference between fashion and looking good. You can make some small changes to your wardrobe and be more attractive without having to go full on marathoning queer eye for the straight guy.

Fashion changes seasonally but style does not.
If a dude is wearing clean clothing that fits well, and he looks happy and confident with himself, that is awesome. Doesn't have to be that his clothes are expensive or fancy. Just a flattering fit.

nope

you will look like a 100% clone reddiot cause already when I do talk to girls about guys, they've noticed how "some dudes seem to be trying to dress well these days but they're all looking like the exact same kind of pseudo nerd tumblr hipster"

enjoy your clarks desert boots, wax washed skinny jeans and plain or plaid oxford button down shirt
or if you're more into streetwear, they'll recommend NIKES! wow so original

the issue MFA has is that people there read the different fashion rules that some of their 'fashionisto' content creators/aggregators post in their guides and use them as law, when fashion is not about 'you cant wear brown shoes with black pants' or 'dont spend anything less than xxx amount on boots"

also catchphrases like "Fashion changes seasonally but style does not." are kind of a catch 22 because who knows where we will be in 5 years with clothing.

wear what you like but make sure it fits and isn't dirty, like Luin said. But I don't agree with the whole "just got for timeless looks" school, cause if you wear something like
cropped heather grey sweat pants
dark red shoes (or whatever color shoes really)
crew neck heather grey sweatshirt
its really basic but it's really stylish too
or you can go for all black sweats and make dem shoes pop! grey mutes other colors, black can help boost their vibrance

and people really seem to like that outfit

and i keep telling them its my laziest fit

karth get in dat self reflective introspective find-yourself-mind-yourself brainspace and really start being who you want to be.

Eh, as someone with absolutely no fashion sense I kinda just want someone to tell me how to dress from a knowledgeable point of view.
I disagree with both of you. MFA is a good place for learning how clothes properly fit. It's up to you to develop a style that works for you. Don't let other people tell you what looks good. Clothing is about how you want to be perceived.

While I may think that one thing is attractive, another may think another thing is attractive. This applies to every single aspect of things affected by opinion. Don't let other people try to tell you what's cool or attractive. That said, it's probably a good idea to listen to this sort of advice if you're a person entering a professional business field where suit and tie are required. You can wear unfitted suits when you're the CEO and you're making tons of money and can afford to do whatever you want. I don't like that last sentence but I can't think of a better way to state it right now.
Yea... I'm gonna keep on wearing Jeans and a Tshirt (with the occasional zip-up sweater or long-sleeve). They fit well, look decent, and can be worn at almost any time. Comfort and usefulness > "style"
