OH GOD MY TOE
I think I've got an ingrown toenail, and it hurts like hell. Can barely move it.

tohtally agree
also last night I slid down a handrail with a flat part in the middle. I though I could just cruise over it but as soon as I hit the kink my tailbone decided to stop my momentum. hurt.

At least it wasn't your junk.
Well, my toe is infected. Epsom Salt soaks and ointment until it's better. If not I'm gonna have to see a doctor. :\

Thanks for reminding me, I finally bought some Epsom Salts to try on my ingrown toenail, and they've been sitting there unused for the last couple days. Soaking definitely helped soften up the skin around it, but I think I've got an abscess or something, because its still oozing. And the other side of the same toenail just started doing the same thing a few days ago.
So I'm not the only person who's had to suffer the terrible fate of uncooperative toenails?
jesus god I'm so sorry for you guys right now.
Mine's been ingrown for going on a year now. I've tried nearly every remedy people have suggested. I literally haven't been able to wear shoes other than my steeltoes (nice big roomy toebox) or flipflops for 6+ months. I just need to go to a fucking doctor and get my whole toe lopped off the toenail surgically fixed or something.
As far as the pain goes, it doesn't bother me much for the most part. It's just one more item on the pain inventory I run in my head when I can't sleep...
I had a bad ingrown toenail a couple months into Afghanistan. I had to go buy a new set of toenail clippers (mine were getting a bit dull, and rusty) and bummed a razor blade to cut it out. Cut a square out of the side of my nail that had the offending spur growing out of and had to slice off a bit of the skin on the side of the nail, slapped some antibacterial salve on there, and then watched it like a hawk to make sure it didn't ingrow again while growing back out. I remember sitting there in my hooch with this razor blade in my hand, looking at my grossly red swollen and throbbing toe, and trying to decide if it was going to hurt more cutting into it, or walking on it like that for any more time. Hurt like a bitch that night, but was soooo much better in a couple of days after the cut had mostly healed up. I basically traded for a different type of pain- the that dull ever present present pain that throbbed with my pulse and pressure, to a sharp "i'm missing flesh here" pain for a couple days. I think it was worth it.Â
I wholeheartedly encourage you guys to cut that shit out.Â
I've actually done that three times already Crow. Each time I do it, it's fine for a few months, then ingrows again worse than the last time.
You gotta check that corner where you cut across every night, run something under it to make sure it's lying above the skin and trim the sharp point as it grows out. I find it helps to trim the skin in front of it also.Â
Or, go see a doctor.
Got pulled into the office this morning and was told that a car I worked on last friday lost a wheel while in motion. Occupants were fine, but substantial damage was done to the car. Told to take 3 days off while more information comes to light. Pretty shook up at the thought of my work, which is otherwise flawless, threatened a persons well-being :'(
One thing that bothered me was my boss never looked me in the eye when this went down.

Are you sure it was your work that caused the issue?

That's my main suspicion. I'm hearing about it 6 days after the fact. Even if it was reported yesterday, that's 5 days of use/non-use before the problem came to light. Bullshit detector is tingling a bit. Mechanically speaking, if there was an issue with the centering on the hub, and the studs filed their way out of the wheel, their should have been a noticeable change in the balance of the car. Low-speed vibrations ( or frequencies) are noticeable. At any rate, they claim to have video of me working on the vehicle, but that's not enough to infer anything other my hands were on the job. I accept responsibility for doing the work, but if the resolution costs me my job, I won't go down without a fight.

Sounds like bullshit to me. I was involved in a wreck last year where I witnessed a car slowly veer into the next lane..tap that car and when said driver tried to overcorrect..flipped and hit another car and scraped mine. A week or two later, I was getting calls from the offending driver's insurance company that the driver claimed the wheels fell off and caused him to hit the first car. I called bullshit. Got a check for $350 dollars.
why the fuck would they take video of their car being worked on?
Wheels falling off and wheels collapsing are the two biggest BS claims. It generally does not happen, ever*. This has got to be cover up for driver error.
*Unless it is a Jeep.
