I wonder if the roommate's thoughts echo Karth's.
Got another parking ticket
even though there is no sign on the entire block
i fucking hate this city
can't park anywhere on city roads even though there's like one snowflake on the ground
no parking garages to put vehicles downtown
Standing in line at Walmart earlier, hear a guy call his 10ish year old son a fucking faggot.

You know, Mr. Dtrain, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father.

When booting mash F8 for boot options, first try 'last known good configuration' to roll back windows.
After that try safe mode with networking (so you can at least get online)
Then regular safe mode if that doesnt work, if you can at least get into safe mode you can do some basic diagnostics.

mashing f8 gave me a boot menu that listed both hard drives and whatever dvd drive i have in there, nothing about rolling back to a previous state. safe mode works but i don't know how to use it

You hit F8 after the system posts, I take it F8 also gives you the BIOS for your motherboard if you hit it super early.
In safe mode start by running some diagnostics, chkdsk -r in the command prompt
That could turn up any bad sectors, also check your system restore in safe mode. There may be a previous date you can roll back to.
trying a system restore in safe mode, i'll see what happens
balance has been restored

Just found out the hard way that the hobbit is a multi part movie.
exactly how far into the movie where you when that bombshell hit?
The beginning of the credits. Was trying to figure out how they were going to wedge the rest of the story into the 'last hour' (wasn't watching my watch very closely, and I'd assumed it was a 3.5 hour movie, and that I was 2.5 hours into it), then the credits started rolling and I nearly screamed "SERIOUSLY?"
But yeah, diligent ignoring of all of the advertisements, all of the discussion of my friends other than 'it's really good!', and all of the spoilers, because I didn't want to know what they'd done to it to adapt it to film ahead of time. And instead of being pleasantly surprised, I'm sad.
It was kinda nice seeing it in IMAX 3D in an otherwise empty theater, though. Late show on Thursday night three weeks after the movie comes out FTW.
We had that guy behind us when we went to see the premier.
"WAIT WHAT THE FUCK?!?! I WANTED TO SEE A DRAGON! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN IT'S A MULTI PART MOVIE!"
It was amazing.
To be fair, he's completely unwarranted because he did see a dragon.
Nope, they didn't show the whole dragon in any of the shots in the movie.
Helix had the best quote when she read all this, "What? Â He didn't know?!?
even I knew! and I don't keep up with any of this shit."

Two 7:20 am shifts this week. :-\ More importantly job responsibilities got shuffled around at work. Technically I got a promotion but in reality I get a way bigger work load for a 10 cent per hour raise.

That's not bad.
I regularly pull off 2-3 6:30 am shifts every week.

6:00 am to 2:30 pm here err'day all week, sometimes even 5 am to 1, and weekends!
I now know what a text breakup feels like. (receiving end, never been on the dealing end)
I also now know what a spiteful 5k on the treadmill feels like. That feels good.
