The bag containing the sugar free cough drops I've been relying on states "Excess consumption may cause laxative effect."And you know, it's not wrong.
Must be the same sugar substitute as the sugarfree haribo gummybears.

It's sorbitol. It's the sugar-free ingredient that causes gas and diarrhea if you eat too much of it.

Maltitol in this case, but same idea.

Politely reply to him (and him alone) that you're disappointed to hear that your performance is not up to his standards but are glad that these concerns have been brought to your attention. Also state that you are eager to discuss ways to grow and improve in your position face to face.

It wasn't even that big of a deal he was just telling me how to solve a problem I didn't realize had a solution (I probably should have thought of it though). The way he did it though was kind of bullshit and made us both look like assholes.
I really don't know what to think of my job right now. My boss is often awesome sometimes the opposite of awesome and he is retiring soon which means I need to start looking for a new job almost right after getting hired. This episode makes me realize this is probably a good thing. I'm getting way better experience than my peers because of the level of stuff he is asking me to do, the only problem is that while I think I do good work I'm still very inexperienced and so when I make a mistake it's often a very silly one.
P.S. If anyone has any advice/suggestions for what to do next let me know. I'm leaning towards policy work, I don't know if I'm cut out to be a real lawyer. I just like high level stuff too much. I could also try for academia, but in that case I would probably need an in-between step. Although if I get at least two of my papers published I might be able to skip that.
Damn canadian and/or russian spam bots.
