So you missed one because they didn't properly notify you, did and passed one, then the background check came back as a failure because of the first drug test? Am I understanding that correctly? Because if so, sounds like some sort of bullshit they're feeding you, to me.

They sent me an email but I didn't know. I think fault ultimately falls with me for missing that first one but I also wasn't told it was it was going to be a timed thing.

But other than that, yes that's how it worked. Their corporate won't let me apply for another year so it's not really worth fighting.

That's typical for a fail, which means they're counting the first one as a fail, which is pretty bogus, especially if it was during the interview period. Usually you have 48 hours from notification, but usually notification is either them handing you paperwork in person or sending you paperwork via certified mail. I'd push it with HR rather than continuing to deal with the same asshole who put you in that position. The clock probably wasn't supposed to start until you had the paperwork for the drug test in hand.

The email was the paperwork I think.
That sucks, Karth...  Drug tests are pretty out of control in the US.

True fact: I have a friend who used to work in drug testing and it wasn't regulated at all.  He could make up whatever he wanted to for the report (not that he did).

Good luck.
And our microwave died today.

PERFECT TIMING
Protip: Don't work for Jimmy John's. The pay and hours are garbage, customers are terrible, and they will lie to you about what times you work.

A former roommate of mine worked as a bike delivery guy for JJ until he got hit by a car and got a concussion. He had mostly the same opinion as you but was in favor of tips often being given in the form of bong hits.
Family emergency just fucked up an already shitty week. At least my boss is letting me take some personal time tomorrow to work on it.

It's fucking terrible relatives and a parade of unfortunate events that seems to be conspiring to let them get their way. And its over serious shit too.
That really sucks surf Sad

I got word yesterday my grandmother isn't doing too well, though its been touch and go for years. Mother seems pretty serious about it this time.
The closer I get to my wedding, the more I'm sad about the fact my dad won't be there D:
Just reached my boiling over point, I'm breaking my lease and moving to CA into my folks house until I can get on my feet. I feel like I'm having a fucking nervous breakdown staying here, fuck this shitty town.
Karth, there is nothing wrong with looking for support from your family. I've had to do it twice since I went out on my own. So best of luck.

Move to the midwest so you can be closer to us nerds
Chicago calls to you, join us in the winter wonderland
I'll be moving in with my folks in LA for a bit, maybe a year. I simply have no money right now and can't afford moving expenses. On top of that, the eagerness to get out of this town and necessity of breaking my lease needs money that I don't have. So I'll be forsaking alcohol and the size of my room for some free rent, more-or-less. I'm a little bummed, but I'm mainly just happy to be moving closer towards friends and closer towards where a career might get started.

On the plus side, I got two interview calls in the last few days, so at least I know the job market is opening back up.
I've just had a very baffling day.

Went out to Melting Pot with girlfriend ("L" for those who have met her). Had been planning this for weeks. Had a great meal. Came home and played board games with L. Still a great we're having fun.

Boom. Get broken up with. Totally understandable, "Not sure I see a future with you," amicable departure, may possibly end up friends.

Goddamn feels whiplash.

Still in the post-break-up "eye of the storm" phase before the sadness sets in. Glass of whiskey in hand.

Whiskey venting here because it's safe.

Christ, I feel so thick. I can never see the axe falling until it happens.
